Selling Animal Crossing Items? Nintendo says Don’t

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Do you find yourself struggling to uncover all that there is to find in Animal Crossing: New Horizons? Luckily, there are no microtransactions in Animal Crossing but this can be a great pain for those who do not want to put in the major amount of hours to unlock stuff. Some players, however, are creating their own marketplace by selling characters and items.

Characters like Dom and Jack are going for 5000 to 8000 Yen, or about $46 dollars (US) to $75 dollars (US). Gamers are also taking to the underground to sell Miles Travel Vouchers and Bells (in-game currency). While underground marketplaces are nothing new and many game companies turn a blind eye, Nintendo has another stance. Don’t do it.

J-Cast is reporting that buying and selling of items for real money or cryptocurrencies outside of the Nintendo Network is a violation of the Nintendo terms of service (TOS) even though there is no way to do it inside the network. Nintendo is addressing this on a case by case basis individually.

Guess players will have to continue to spend more time than money to enjoy Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Currently, it’s unknown at this time if Nintendo has dropped the ban hammer on those that are buying Animal Crossing items/characters. Stay thirsty safe my friends.
