Sunday, Ubisoft held its first digital only Ubisoft UbiForward 2020 Livestream event, showcasing a number of new titles coming up from the software giant.
Watch Dogs: Legion – UbiForward
The first title shown is Watch Dogs: Legion, on open world, story driven third-person RPG that places the player in a future London. At the time, the city is on the verge of collapse, and it is up to you, as the protagonist in the story, to form a squad to do something about it.
In the game, London has come under attack by a terrorist force. The city turns to a private military company to control the crime and terrorism, but the private force quickly runs amok, and turns the city into an extreme police state. On the other side of this is a crime syndicate which is involved in every type of criminal enterprise from drugs to human trafficking.
It is the players job to create an resistance force to save the city from the clutches of Albion, the private military company run by CEO and main antagonist Nigel Cass, as well as from Mary Kelley and her organized crime syndicate.
Perhaps most unique about the gameplay is that players are able chose to play as any person within the came, and are able to walk the streets of London and interact with any individual NPC within the world. Every one of them has a story. Every one of them is a potential recruit, and any one of them can be taken over and controlled by the player.
The short film that was made to premier the title at Ubisoft’s event is not game footage, but it, along with the gameplay trailer, gives the game the feeling of an amped-up, action packed ride.
A final comment from Clint Hawking, Creative Director : “Welcome to the resistance,” and it looks from the trailer that this could prove to be a wild and exciting ride.
