More Coop Mario Fun Coming to the Nintendo Switch

Reading Time: 3 minutes

With the 35th Anniversary of Super Mario Bros., Nintendo has announced a bunch of Mario themed products, games, and events like Monopoly, LEGO, a new Game & Watch, Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit, Super Mario 3D All-Stars, and special events through March 2021 to name a few. In even better news for us coop gamers, alongside Super Mario Bros. 35, Nintendo also announced the release of Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury for the Nintendo Switch. Now you can step away from Super Mario Maker 2’s coop play for a whole new adventure.

What was originally released for the Nintendo Wii U back in 2013, and that was a sequel to the hit from the Nintendo 3DS in 2011, was Super Mario 3D Land. The 3D version of these games featured rich 3D graphics on a side-scroller platformer bringing back the fun of the nostalgic Super Mario Bros. while bringing it into the 21st century, graphically.

Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury is essentially a port, but will feature Bowser’s Fury and be an enhanced version of its original namesake, which will feature the same co-op gameplay, both online (through Nintendo Switch Online) and through local multiplayer, for up to 4-players. No further details regarding Bowser’s Fury were revealed other than what we can see in the launch trailer below (skip to about 1:30).

If you’re like us and love Nintendo’s amiibo line, in conjunction with the release of the game, two new amiibo characters will be released: Cat Peach and Cat Mario!

Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury is available now for pre-order for $59.99 and will be available on February 12, 2021.
