If you’ve ever wanted to take the driver seat behind a real Mario Kart, Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit may be the closest thing to reality that will allow you to do just that. Alongside all the other Super Mario Bros. 35th anniversary items that include coop play like Super Mario Bros. 35 and Super Mario World 3D + Bowser’s Fury, Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit made its debut.
What appears to be an incredible blend of reality and augmented reality, Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit makes your home a virtual circuit while a real RC kart zooms around your home. Yes, you read that right. Utilizing an onboard camera, the Nintendo Switch becomes the driver’s view as you steer your way around furniture from your home, through course brackets, and around virtual obstacles and racers as you make your way to the finish line.
Up to four players can race against each other but each will need a Nintendo Switch, Mario Kart Live game, and the RC Kart (either Mario or Luigi). Very little other details were provided, but we do know that Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit will be released on October 16th, 2020 for a fairly decent price of $99.99. Check out Nintendo.com for pre-order details, which will hopefully be released soon.
Unfortunately, no other details regarding the RC Kart were given regarding speed or battery life. In the trailer below, the Kart seems to move quite quickly but it’s hard to tell if it’s just some “movie magic” or actually a fast RC Car.
What’s Included in the Box:
- Mario or Luigi Kart
- 4 Gates
- 2 Arrow Signboards
- USB charger cable
*Game is listed as a free download from the Nintendo eShop. Also note, the includes gates and signboards are cardboard and appear to be readable by the onboard camera.
